For meat, eggs, temperament, extreme weather tolerance, and a dusty incubator I got hooked on Chanteclers. If I had to pick from the poll, Wyandottes would be my choice.View attachment 3604432

My Marans lay year round. Are a little skittish but not usually. Never done meat before.

For over all hardiness and longevity with the ability to adapt to hot or cold weather I want barred rocks. Not new tinkered with strains just the old fashioned grandma's barred rocks. Plump meaty birds that spread their laying out over an extra year or two and shouldn't have the female problems of production type layers.
