I am very new to raising chickens, however I am looking to get 4 or 5 chicks. I live in Connecticut, so the winters can get pretty cold and the summers can get into the 90's. I have researched chicks good for these conditions as well as good egg layers and from what I've got it looks like plymouth rocks, wyandottes, and orphingtons would all be good for these conditions. Am I under the right impression? Thanks!

Those would be good breeds to start with. Not positive on the Wyandotte's but I do believe they will be fine under those condition. Golden comets and black stars would also be fine. Avoid Mediterranean breeds because they SUCK at winter. This is why I hate my white leghorns.

Wyandottes are my favorite winter birds.
Lay great right through the coldest weather.
