Hi all, I just incubated and hatched my first peachick. There are a few other eggs in the incubator, but none has pipped and it does not look like they will. My lone chick is so lonely - I am tempted to go to the farm store and pick up something to keep him company.

I know that Chickens and perhaps Turkeys can pass diseases to Peafowl. So, which companion would you choose - Chicken, Turkey, Guinea or Duck?

Thanks!
Heidi

You might look at this thread:

There is more info like this if you do a search!

Chicken Obsessed, I'm usually a better citizen and do searches, but i was in a rush and headed out the door. Great link, thanks! It turns out I didn't have a choice - only chicks left at the store. The chick did come straight from a brooder, so perhaps we're safe. I should have thought ahead and set a chicken egg.

Here's a shot at posting a picture:

Any of the above will work even a gosling will do i brood all my hatchlings together.
The only problem with brooding waterfowl with pea-chicks is they love the water and they need it to keep their nostrials clean and can be quite the chore to keep the brooder clean , mine is outside on the ground so i am ok but i would not keep them together in a small brooder,i do not have turkeys but guineas and chicken chicks fresh out of the hatcher work best IMO
