I am candling some eggs before putting them in the incubator, but some have the yolk in the middle, some in the side, some have a really large yolk, which ones would be more suitable to hatch? I know it has to do with the air sack, but I don't know which ones will hatch better, some eggs are also very porous, can some one tell me which eggs need to avoid? Any advise would be apprecited.

They say not to use the porous ones. I don't think the position of egg yolk makes a difference. I just put the ones I want in the bator. I candle at day 7,14 and day 18. Check airsacs, bad eggs, clears ext.

The yolk should be suspended in the middle of the egg. I have set porous eggs and they have hatched with no problem. I dont set very small or misshapen eggs. Set them all if you cant decide. The strong ones will hatch the others wont. Thats the way it works in nature.

X 2...I just set everything & see what pops out. I also rarely candle, mostly due to lack of time since I turn 4-5 bators full of eggs by hand 3 times daily & have kids & other animals to deal with in addition to all the chickens & ducks, plus the chicks & other birds I hatch. I just watch for leakers (porous eggs tend to leak quicker than solid ones) & stinky ones so I don't have rotten eggs exploding in my bators.
