Which hatchery for cornish broilers?

A lot of places do charge extra for "small orders," although I feel like for most hatcheries that minimum number is less than 50 or 25, not less than 100. Welp does not. I ordered 15 turkeys and 25 layer breed chicks from them and the total came out to what I had expected (their chicks are "more expensive" than what's listed on other websites, but that price includes shipping already). But thank you for pointing that out! I did not see the $5 handling charge for orders under 100 chicks when I looked at their website earlier. They're still second cheapest, even after factoring the $5 handling charge for 25 chicks, but not by much. I just wish hatcheries would post their shipping costs in an easy to find location on their website so that buyers could factor the cost of shipping into their order before they get to the check out page.

Hi all! I received 43 chicks on March 4th from murray mcmurray and shipping was $12. They shipped on Sat I got them on Monday. All were good quality and healthy. I did not lose a single one!!

Yes, I have used Hoover's for three or four orders of Cornish crosses, and have found them to be very reliable with good stock. They always ship a few "extra" chicks to cover any losses.

We've gotten 30 Cornish Xs from Schlect for 2 years now (this year will be the 3rd) and have had great success. BIG birds. Good health. Great hatchery to deal with. the first year I also got some americanas and their meat/egg cross. I would not recommend Schlect for either of those, but the Cornish Xs were excellent.

They ask you to call on the website.

We're going to take the leap to buying broilers this spring and are trying to figure out where to get them. Since the minimum at the local farm store is 25 anyway, we've decided to cut out the middle man and order direct from a hatchery but need help choosing which one. Anyone have any recommendations on hatcheries that are a good source, or ones to avoid?
I would go with the hatchery that is closest to you.
