Which hatchery is the best deal with the best prices?

A lot depends on shipping, so be sure to look at shipping costs. Also, some hatcheries charge for a less than full box, or charge a surcharge per breed or run type (roos, pullets, straight).

I have found the cheapest hatchery for run of the mill type broilers and layers is Hoover's Hatchery. They do charge a few extras, but overall, the price of their chicks is rediculously cheap. You aren't going to get a huge selection, and these are more gentle, production type birds. But, in general, I have been very pleased for the price. I think they have Plymouth Rocks, Australorps, Leghorns, Orpingtons, Wyandottes, EEs and some production sex links. Not a huge selection, but definitely some popular breeds. Most pullets are under $1.60/each.

They are located at http://www.hoovershatchery.com

I looked I may consider ordering some. Right now I was trying to stay with banties because of space etc.... They are more a hobby for us and for 4-H. I would probably like to have a couple bigger chickens but not 25!! Thanks

I like Ideal the best. They have good prices, and AWESOME customer service! As for quality.....Birds from most hatcheries are not as good of quality as birds from a serious show breeder. However, I have some really pretty white silkies from Ideal. Privett is a good hatchery, too. Their prices are reasonable, and the birds are very healthy.
