If you want good quality silkies, get them from BYC members or local breeders where you are. Check and see where the nearest chicken swap is and see who breeds silkies. This way you get to pick out good healthy ones in the colors you want and know they are well cared for. You can learn a lot from the people who raise them too, so make friends with the breeders. They can help you be successful and be a resource for problem solving. I think you'll be disappointed in the hatchery quality silkies. If you have a way to hatch eggs, check out the BYC eggs for sale auction. Lots of people have good success with this, including me! I have 8 buff eggs in the bator right now that I got from Sundown Silkies in NY. The price was economical. They arrived in great shape and are due to hatch in a few days.
