I currently have 4 laying hens. 2 EE 1 OE and 1 Welsummer .

1month ago 1 EE started laying blueish eggs. She has been consistent in her laying cycle since, laying 2 days in a row, 1 day off. She also lays at the same time each day. 1st day, 9am ish 2nd day 11am ish

2weeks ago I adopted the OE and was told that she had just started laying. She has now laid every other day since Thursday the 25th and she lays later in the day usually. I do have 2 small solar lights setup that provide 2-3hrs extra light per day, so one reason I am confused is she could have started back up.

My 3rd EE is also adopted but was told she was laying until late Nov / early Dec when light got low. I have not seen her do her "laying song" or any other typical signs of laying.

Where I am confused: I went out to the coop this morning at 9am, not expecting a egg that early from the OE (and it would be the currently laying EE day off from laying), there were 2 eggs. One light blueish, similar to current laying EE and one Olive Greenish like the OE has been laying.

So, did my currently laying EE up her production to 3 days on, or did my other EE finally start laying?

Thanks for your help!

I have Easter eggers. One way to know is was all the eggs perfectly shaped. If they were then it was your existing layers. If one of the eggs at a little slightly abnormal shape to it then it was the new layer. How I know this is when my Easter eggers go in to molt and they stop laying, which is usually October or November. Then they start back up there 1st egg after molt will have a slight pointed shape to it. This is how I know who, so this might help!

It can be very hard to tell what bird is laying what egg....unless:
They all lay a unique egg shape(more than color) and color that you can easily tell apart and you have caught each bird 'in the act' so you know for sure which bird lays which egg. Catching them in the act can be an arduous and time consuming venture, but it can be done if you have the time and tenacity.

In your pic I see 3 different shapes/colors,
(none of which I would call olive tho are the 'olives' in there?),
so I'd guess all 3 EE's (or 2EE and 1 OE) are laying.

Here the 3 most recent eggs:

I think All all there EE/OE are now laying.

Hard to get the color in the light. I just posted another photo. I agree with you. I got another blueish egg this morning so I'm going with the 2 EE and 1 OE are active layers now. Thanks for your help
