Which is a better cross or more desired chick

I’m trying to decide which cross would produce a more desirable chicken or EGG color….i have a splash Marans Roo to cross with a CCL ?? Does this produce an autosexing chick?.
The other option for me is crossing my Welsummers Roo with the CCL - I have done this and the chick is not a hen laying beautiful matte green egg. She has a crest like the CCL and coloring is similar to welsummer.
Please share your thoughts! I can’t wait until these chicks start laying.

Hard to say what sells in your area. Either cross will result in olive eggers with small crests. Splash marans roo over a CCL hen won't result in autosexing chicks. It will result in blue chicks and if your marans is feather legged you would expect to see some leg feathering.

Ok. And yes, all my chicks are blue with feathered feet so far with that cross. They’re only 3 weeks old and can’t tell them apart from my blue Marans at this point.

You're right, they should be sex linked with either rooster. I keep forgetting that legbars are barred since it's not as obvious on the females. Oops!
