which is better hovabator or little giant

LOL they even have a special thread where LG owners go for mental therapy, or should I say advice on the proper way to heave them into the dumpster LOL, I am serious it has about 40 GOzillion post and I think they may have hatched maybe a dozen egg total. anyway I think the verdict is in Nick.

The newer LG is a good incubator when it works but the turn knob that adjusts temp is to sensitive an are known to fail often causing wild temp swings..

The HB still has an old fashion wafer thermostat that has been proven for many years, predating electric incubators.

The LG is a real trial for the first time user. If you have a choice go for a a better quality machine. I read everything here on BYC and at the last minute had to buy an incubator and of course the LG is the ONLY one at the feedstore. I had a reasonable hatch 50% first try. Needs a lot of monitoring. Built my own incubator and use LG for hatching.

Hovabator! Hands down. LGs are not good unless you have a compleatly temperature stable room. And endless time to babysit it.

x2 this except I would add that over time the solid state thermostat on the LG wears out and becomes VERY hard to set, and you can't replace it, while you can replace the wafer in the hova. I have resorted to using my LG with a separate thermostat and probe that I had around from my reptiles. Now that I am using it as a glorified box with a fan in it, it works better. LOL

Haven't tried Hovabator, but the LG works fine for us as long as room used does not fluctuate temps more than 20 degrees and not over 85. We have digital thermometer, fan, and egg turner and get 80% or better almost every hatch..... Use sponges to help with humidity as well for final 3 days.

We run several batches a year and have one in now....
