I'm getting ready to do my coop and am confused on which is better semi gloss paint or whitewash (lime recipe)? I don't care about the cost. Which is easier to apply (I'm sure the paint)? More importantly which is more effective for cleaning and less bug friendly?

Thanks, I didn't realize I'd have to redo it a lot- definitely not interested in that! Is there anyplace I should avoid putting the paint (ex: roosts) where the chickens will peck and eat it?

A good paint will hold up even on roosts, and shouldn't peel off for years IF the surface is clean and dry when it's applied, and allowed to FULLY cure before it's used

I prefer using treated wood for roosts though, and paint everything else
