Which is better?

Me too I only have four eggs in the incubator the humidity is 41 and the temp is at 100 is that good? Also I read that you need to stop turning on day 14 is that true or do you keep turning til day 18 then go into lockdown?
They will be ok if you stop at day 14. Turning will not hurt them.

I turn them up to lockdown with an auto turner.

Well I was just called about an hour ago and told there was no rooster with the hens so I put them in for no reason...no back to square one...I may just wait and order some instead of hatching myself...any ideas on hatcheries?

I just put four eggs in tonight at about 10:30 wish me luck on my hatch...I did not want to do to many eggs because I am turning by hand and want to make sure that I do it correctly...hopefully by the 29th and 30th I will have some babies :) cannot wait...

Turning is made simple with an egg carton half. Place eggs in pointy end down. Use a small block to raise the side of cartoon and simply move the block to other side to tilt eggs back and forth twice a day. Tilt one way in morning then tilt other at night. That's all it takes to turn your eggs manually. On day 18 you can either keep eggs in carton to hatch out or take them out and lay flat for lock down.

Using a still air incubator you read temperature at top of eggs. It should read 101F. Warm air rises, the average temp of entire egg will be 99.5. Humidity I've had best results running 30-40% until day 18 then 55-60%.

Good Luck

You can order hatching eggs from some hatcheries too- but chicks are cheaper because shipping messes up some of the eggs at least for me.

I have ordered from Welp, McMurray, My Pet Chicken, and also some from the feed store (hatchery chicks) and been pleased.

I just want a small amount for the time being...I use to have almost 50 chickens...but I lost them due to my cousin dogs and she is getting rid of them as we speak...what kinds do you think I should get...I want natural brooders and my family wants eggs to eat I however do not eat eggs because I had a bad experience with one having a chick inside from the grocery store so I do not eat them...what kinds do you have?

Buff Orps, Nankins, D'Uccles

You would like the "heavy brown egglayers" most likely. You can go on McMurray just to dream a bit or another hatchery and see what they have. Oh and google Henderson's chicken chart- that's a good one if you want.

Okay thanks...I am planning on ordering from McMurray that is the only one I have ever used besides Tractor Supply...I will most def look at the chart...I want to hatch babies and have them, I had a silikie that was a great mother and brooder...I will just shop around...thanks...
