Which is the best looking Freedom Ranger? Red or Tri-color?

There is a reason I posted the pic of the two roosters and that accident
happened so close together.

I was seperating the roosters I planned to keep as breeders. The two
in the pic I moved (along with 2 others) to my breeding pen. These were
the very best four out of the lot. They are still alive and are currently
*ahem* performing the required duties.

My friend came over to get the next best roosters to put into use producing
black sex-links. I might just give him one of my four, but I'll take it to
him myself.

I'm not sure which way I want to go, tri-color or red. OR even if I should
seperate them and keep a line of each.

If you could choose, which would you buy?

That's one reason I like the Red. I hope to stabilize a line and think it will be easier with the Red (or Yellow).

The tri-color rooster I had last year was bit more of a mess than the one pictured in this thread (which would be more attractive, in my opinion, without the black in the wings). I happen to have a picture of mine from last year:

A lot going on there.

As far as color, I like the tri's. For the same reason I prefer varigated leaves on ornamental plants. I just like lots of color. I think they would look more attractive out roaming the range before they came in for dinner. But really, what does it matter since their purpose is what's under their feathers, not on them.

The tri-colors might be easier to distinguish certain individuals, which could make things easier or more difficult. Easier if you want to remember which was the one who had a certain injury or ailment and wish to track its recovery. More difficult if you find yourself getting attatched to certain individuals for sentimental reasons.

I say you can be sad to have to butcher such beautiful animals, or be glad your meat comes in such an attractive package!

i really just love all the uniqueness that the tricolors offer. like a kaleidoscope of birds out ranging around the property!! might as well enjoy 'em all you can while they are around!

not to mention.. my barred/laced yellows and yellow/"tricolors" had GREAT size!!!!!!

eKo, did you have Freedom Rangers with lace? I have a dark colored FR pullet with lacing around the neck.

OP, I personally prefer tri-colors but out of 26 got only one tri cockerel (barred) and one tri pullet (the dark one described above). Keeping both for breeding--will they likely produce more tri's?
