I got 5 mixed pullets from a feed store earlier this year. I could tell them apart until I went on vacation. I supposedly got a black sex link and a jersey giant. Can anyone help me tell them apart? They around 18-20 weeks old.? I'm assuming the one with the red comb is getting ready to lay. Her comb got big and red over the last week!

I would guess the one in the top picture is the sex-link. Sex-links mature and lay eggs earlier than Jersey Giants. The red comb does indicate eggs are on the way. They're both gorgeous girls! :)

Honestly neither of them look like a BLS. Here is my Black sex links

See the brown around the neck and head? They don't always have the same amount of brown (some only on neck or breast).

Yes, most BLS's have the orange around the neck, but not all. I have a black sex-link hen who is all black. Her parents are a barred rock female and a partridge rock male.
