Which Natural Disaster Scares You More...

We feel the same way. Most stores only have a 2-3 day supply of food. If there is a crisis or if people panic and buy/take everything from the shelves... us folks who live outside of town would never make it in time to get our share of the food. So, we grow and preserve as much as we can, and we have a good supply of basic food seeds stored away as well. It's part of the reason we got chickens, for eggs, meat. Plus we hope to get yaks or something like that for other (we currently have venison as the main source) meat/dairy supply. Even if nothing comes to play, we still have good healthy food to eat!

Tornados. They freak me out in large part because of the completely random nature of the damage. One house or area will be totally destroyed and the one next to it will be just fine. The F4 that came through north of here scoured houses off their foundations, not even the concrete was left.

Earthquakes don't bother me much. I grew up in Southeast Alaska where they are quite common. I think if I lived in the Seattle area, I might be more concerned. When their big one comes, the Tsunami is going to take out the whole danged city. Or one of those pretty Mt. Fuji style mountains is gonna decide that its not quite dormant....and Seattle will look like Pompeii.

I've lived through a number of 4+ earthquakes when I was in Ecuador (both times) Scary... I wouldn't want to be in a bigger one.

I've watched tornados touch down from a distance... once in Ohio, another time in Indiana and believe it or not I saw a funnel cloud that ended up touching down just north of us here in Phoenix.

If I lived next to (within a 100 mile distance of) a volcano, I'd probably move. A week after our last vacation to Ecuador when we felt a couple of earthquakes, Pichincha the volcano erupted.... scary. I have a friend whose daughter lived not that far from Tunguragua and watched it erupt numerous times... I wouldn't want to be within 200 miles of that thing when it does a St. Helens...

If I lived by the ocean, I'd make certain I was on high ground, tsunami's are a nightmare.

I've had a number of bad dreams of comet/large meteor impacts... the kind of thing where you just watch and wait to be twinkled. (step over to the other side of the viel)

Tornadoes! Can't stand to have tornado watches/warnings at night... what if one comes while we're all upstairs asleep?
