That makes me think dusty as she is top dog and already likes to hiss(she’s talented )Normally I’ll give me chickens dud eggs for a week to see how they treat them. If they seem to neglect them, or lose interest after a few days, I don’t let them hatch them. I also find the highest hen in the pecking order is often more interested, and a better mother, she also helps protect the chicks better. I wouldn’t chose a hen who is low in the pecking order. I probably wouldn’t choose Miracle, she seems to young to properly protect the chicks from the older hens. You can’t choose which ones get broody, and you can’t make one specific one get broody. It is about picking and choosing which ones will be the best mother once they’re broody. Even if the chicken lowest in the pecking order got broody, I wouldn’t give her the eggs.
YesI’ve had an Australorp that went broody several times. But you can’t make a hen go broody. Some never do.
