I have both Americana and Orpingtons and live in a very cold climate in the winter and humid hot crappy heat in the summer, of the 2 the orpington is the one that seems to not drop off as much due to weather.I don't know if you have ever tried to eat your surplus Americana roos, but.. for setting, broodieness and the ability to eat your culls, I personally prefer the Orp out of the 2 breeds.
