I have a couple questions in preparation for the County Fair,
First i want to know how i could bulk up chickens pretty quickly and also grow feathers fast?
and second i have 3 RIR chickens that i am pretty sure are roosters but i wanted to double check, and if some or all of them are roosters which one should i take to County?

They are all about 5 months old. Thanks!

Feathers take time to grow. A feather is made of keratin and protein. If they're molting that takes time and there isn't a quick fix. But umm...you could shampoo them to make them look better..they make chicken shampoo. Towel them the direction of there feathers gently then blow dry on low. I've shampooed my leghorns...they always look better.

Thanks, yeah i should probably not take the one with no tail feathers but luckily i have about 2 weeks to prep. Could i get their weight up pretty fast with starter feed?

I don't know how fast you can put weight on in two weeks. Maybe try meatbird crumble? It's higher protein. I've had chicks on it. I just don't know what you can do that's healthy in two weeks. Other than cracked corn..which wouldn't be healthy in large helpings (not suggesting this). I'd try the meatbird crumble.

I don't think you need to put weight on them. I would contact your local poultry club, extension office, or a 4-H club. People will be real friendly, and they always love to give advice. As long as your birds are healthy, they will be glad to have you come.

You may not win the blue ribbon, but you will gain a lot of experience, and there is always next year. I myself, and considering showing some leghorn roosters.
