I have seven hens and two roosters. All raised together since they were chicks. My hens are getting marked up pretty bad by them and I think it's time to get rid of one of the boys. They are both in good health, although the more passive one has a deformed/bent toe on each foot. He walks fine, but that's how I tell the two apart. That, and their crow is different.

Should I take out the more aggressive one, or should I get rid of the other one that spends most of his time inside the coop and only goes outside now and then until the other chases him back inside?

If you are breeding them, the deformed toes could be passed on to their offspring if it's something genetic.

Other than that, I would be tempted to keep the less aggressive one.

if the aggressive one wasn't there he would become stronger and stay out with the hens. Just my opinion!

I agree. If you aren't into breeding, keep the less aggressive one. He'll man up once the alpha is gone.
