Which rooster to keep?

Just my 2 cents......Id only keep girls, as you have children. You can always buy fertile eggs to hatch if you get a broody hen. A roo with children....not worth the risk in my opinion.

Thank you all. I noticed the larger rooster watching my daughter run a bit too intently for my liking. We butchered them both.

We're down to three hens but the kids are safe

Really you would not be saving that much money. You would have to feed them all winter. And getting roosters is easy and cheap. Most people are desperate to give you a nice one. Do go with an all hen flock at first, it is a good idea!
