We (i) LOVE roosters. I think they are beautiful... So I was thinking about adding ONE rooster to our young flock of 7. Which Rooster would you recommend. I would really like someone REALLY exotic and am NOT in it for anything other than pure enjoyment... Our coop is approx 84 sq ft and enclosed yard is 16' x 15'. Our girls are just about 6 wks. 3 Barred Rocks and 4 RIR....

My buff orpington rooster sleeps in my BED given half a chance (and doesn't poo there, as apparently it's his nest). Granted he's just a baby, but between him and my light bhrama pullet's wonderful temperment, I'm not sure I'd ever want another breed of roo. (Not that they're exotic).

And if you'd like some midwestern hearty but beautiful roos, I could set you up with some young mutts or some older modern roos. Your choice! PM me for diretions.

Since you asked, If I were looking for a beautiful rooster, just as a yard ornament, I would probably choose a White Leghorn. Now I know you said exotic, but if you think about it, White Leghorn roosters are very rare. Nobdy keeps them as the hens are strictly egg layers and not broody at all. The cocks have massive, flowing tails and are quite striking. Had one when I was a kid. They should be easy to come by as most pullet chick orders will include one or two. Good luck with whatever you decide.......Pop

What do you mean by exotic? Do you want long feathers, frizzle feathers, friendly or personality doesn't matter?

I am really fond of anything Crele colored. Of course I don't have anything Crele colored! LOL! Does it have to be purebred? I also

Easter Eggers! They come in so many colors and I love the beard and muffs.

Why don't you check out the Rooster Show going on here? https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=169842 You might get a good idea of what you are looking for. I wouldn't rule out mixed breeds. There are some GORGEOUS "barnyard specials" out there!

It really does depend on what you mean by "exotic", but I would vote for the Phoenix too. My Phoenix rooster is just gorgeous and has a wonderful personality and disposition. Now, having said that, he is NOT the alpha roo here. He is second in command. I have no idea if his personality would be different were he the only one. But I can tell you as the beta roo he is very sweet, attentive to the girls, and has a funky crow that makes me giggle every single time I hear it. They tend to be on the smallish size too.
