Which should I trust?

I have basically the same bator. If anything, I would expect the built in one to be reading a higher temperature since the built in thermometer is at the top of the bator. I got the Spot Check thermometer from Brinsea to check the temperature at the tops of the eggs since my first hatch was late hatching. I suspected that the temperature at the tops of the eggs was lower than 99.6 (factory set temperature that held rock steady during the whole incubation) I confirmed my suspicion the other day. It was at least a degree cooler at the top of the eggs so I adjusted the temperature on the unit until it stabilized at 99.6. I would go with the Brinsea temperature for now since the other thermometer is reading higher.

I would go with the one that the factory had installed... I would think that it is all tuned by the factory to be accurate.
