Do you even see freezing or below freezing temps? Why would you even need a thermo cube in southern california? What are you using the electric for?

Even though its cali, the nights get pretty chilly and id like it if i had a thermo cube where it can just turn on accordingly to the temp and turn off on its own. Using it for a heat lamp.

I have one, and it IS convenient if you have freezing or below temps. I have one that runs my cookie tin water fount warmer. But where you are, you have no need for one. You say it gets chilly. Chickens can handle way worse than chilly. For get about that heatlamp too. All you are doing with that, is running up you electric bill, and taking a chance on burning your coop down.

x2 Unless you have babies (not fully feathered) or your water freezes so solid the birds can't peck it to get a drink. Heat is not needed and can be a disaster.

So heat lamps aren't needed. That's goooood, i thought i needed one because most people have some sort of light in their coops haha guess i wasn't really paying to where they were from =(

Thanks!

your welcome... I'm in Missouri and I only heat my water for my convenience here. The chickens are fine as long as they aren't dry and not in drafty conditions.
