I'm assuming this is the best place to post this thread since i'm trying to use the darn thing to seal up my meat birds for the freezer....
Anyway, last night i was trying to seal up some bird pieces and my sealer isn't working like it used to....i've used it hundreds of times over the years without much worry. last year the foam rubber inside the lid was kinda wrinkled and it wouldn't vacum very well, but after i pushed it back into position it started working again. last night it wasn't sucking properly so i took the foam pieces out and turned them around backward and it was working like a champ...........except it wouldn't seal all the way across the bag!!! no matter which position i put it in (left, right or center) it always left a small gap somewhere. finally i gave up and figured they'd be good enough if i ate them in the first month.
i'm using a Rival "seal a meal" purchased from wally world....anyone out there know if this is just expected with these or if there's a more "heavy duty" model i should check into? i plan to butcher another 45 birds in the next week or two and hundreds more in the coming years so i don't mind paying for a quality unit if necessary....otherwise i'll have to just keep replacing them yearly.
Any input here would be appreciated
