which virus scan do you use

I like None.

I played the game of trying out the various programs, macafee, norton, ect ect ect on other computers... and it seemed like they all caused their own set of problems, yet had the same annoying, continuous messages ALWAYS popping up and even freezing the computer because they wouldn't stop while you were trying to load something.

Then I bought this brand new Toshiba laptop a year ago... love it... and I decided right then and there to not ever clog it up with any of those programs.

I watch where I go... Delete any and all suspicious mail... and I have never used a better working PC. I can have as many tabs up as I want... have a netflix movie loaded and paused while I go play music... never had a freeze up... and my pc is still as fast a year later as it was the day I got it... and that's saying something compared to previous computers

Norton. Does background checks for me and does not slow down my computer. and if the computer is acting funny I will do a full scan to check for viruses or any out dated cookies.

I've always used Norton. It is a bit of a memory hog but pretty reliable.
Nothing is 100% perfect. In addition to a good AV I also run spybot search and destroy. I also sometimes run ad-aware and hijack this.

I haven't used it but bitdefender is supposed to be very good.

Avast. Free version.

I had Norton and got a virus that pretty much killed my hard drive. I have a computer tech friend who works on computers daily recommend the Avast and I haven't had a problem since. That was 3 years ago.

It does update by itself on a regular basis, but you can set it to any time you want. Good luck.

x4 In fact, I bought one of the name brand virus scans one time after using AVG for a while (and not having any problems) & ended up uninstalling it because of the conflicts & pop-ups that it created. I'm back with AVG after that BRIEF hiatus & will remain true forever more...
