Which would you pick?

So heres the thing. I am constantly adjusting my LG incubators temperature and I cannot, for the life of me, get it to hold in the 99's at all. It is either at a low of 98.4 or a high of 100.2 to 100.4. My humidity is good and stable but I cannot get the temperature to level out. If I were to settle for one of the two temperatures which would be the best?

The lower just in case of a spike. TOO HOT kills, TOO COOL just slows development. Unless you have a still air boator then the 100.4 would be fine.

Try and keep it above 99 degrees... and below 101.

Try not to fiddle with it to much. They are a pain until you can figure them out. If you are continually trying to adjust it, it will never settle out. I use many of them, but never put an egg in one until I get the temps settled. Place bags of sand or jars of water in the bator. Let is set over night, check the temp. Touchy, so if it is off a little, adjust it and go to work. When you get home check it and make any small adjustments. When you can leave it for a couple of days and see no temp lower than 98 or higher than 101, you will have it right. Place the eggs in the bator and between 19 and 22 days later you will have lettle fuzzy butts. The small spikes you might see are when the heat kicks in or is going off. This is NOT the temp on the inside of the egg.

what helped me to stabilize temps was to place a 10# dumbbell weight under my water tray in a diy 'bator. It adds a lot of thermal mass to the system.

I like that idea, I will have to try it out on my next batch.

If it's still air (without a fan) you should have 101-102 at the top of the eggs. LGs are so prone to temp spikes, it seems. Adding a fan is always a good idea.
