I'm still wondering about the "Registered Breeder" aspct of this thread?
As far as I know there is no chicken counterpart to thr American Kennel Club, the American Quarter Horse Association, etc that "Registers" birds or breeders. If there is I'm not aware of it. If this person is passing him/herself off as a "Registered Breeder" it may be part of a deliberate effort to defraud.

As I PMd you, as long as you have them separate, wouldn't be any harm in watching them a bit further. This is not the first time I've heard of a breeder selling birds who are in terrible condition and a breeder who shows birds, too. Must have a different standard for the layers and the show birds, unfortunately. There is a breeder of the breed you mention who is responsible for spreading disease in a certain state, so it happens. Make a few bucks then make hundreds of others miserable.
