How do I tell if my hen is a TRUE white Ameraucana??? I purchased her from the feed store she was the only white chick in the cage, the people at the store thought she was a different breed mixed in with the Ameraucanas, so I just HAD to have her, because I thought to myself, "If she really is an Ameraucana how cool would it be to have a solid white one!" I've heard people say there's no way she's a true Ameraucana, she's more than likely an Olive Egger. But what are your thoughts???

Green legs, check. Muffs, check. Pea comb, check. Only thing left to do is wait and see what color of eggs she lays.

I currently have a silkie/mutt EE cross outside who could pass for a cream legbar until you see her ten tiny toes. Sometimes, it really is impossible to tell breed by looking at the chicken.

Good to know, thanks guys!!!!

I've considered purchasing a "blue" Ameraucana Roo along with a couple more hens and seeing what we get.

How do you determine color genetics in chickens?

Welcome, still over my head at this point. maybe a splash. maybe still a pretty EE for a couple generations. I was considering a Black Ameraucana cockerel to my lavender Pullets to help with feather quality and color.

And white can be either dominant, covering any color, or recessive. She's an EE, so a mix, and it will be interesting to see what color her eggs will be, and what her chicks will look like. Enjoy!

That's right, had another browser window open with a blue and forgot the OP's was white. Could be almost anything!
