White Breeds for Fibro Pen?

Hi all! I am trying to plan a Fibro breeding pen for next year. I have Ayam Cemanis already, but wondering what breeds I could use to get that cool “zombie” look, aside from Leghorns. I know that actual Zombie chickens are AC Roo over White Leghorn hens. I have heard that leghorns are super flighty and I would like to work with a breed that is more docile. I’m thinking along the lines of LF Cochins, Brahmas or Jersey Giants. A white Phoenix would be pretty cool too I think (but probably pretty flighty). I was thinking that it would be cool to find a few breeds that come in all white and work with those. Any suggestions?

No idea, but what is a fibro pen?

You're going to be looking for awhile. The AC X Leghorn "zombie" cross works because the Leghorns are dominant white. Most all other white breeds are recessive white.
Any ol white chicken won't do. Any breeds that people are working on "paints" with could be a possibility. The paint pattern also requires dominant white,

Ah that makes sense. What would I get with a recessive white bird? I know that with the leghorns they also have the barring gene, which is what makes them sexable at hatch. Any idea what breeds might come in dominant white? I know that Ameraucanas do, but finding them is hard.

Recessive white takes a copy from both parents to show up white so no white birds. Recessive white also hides everything underneath it so depending on what other genes it has hard to say what the chicks would look like.
ACs should just be black and that covers a lot so odds are black chicks or black chicks that get leakage with age. Of course if the recessive white bird has blue or splash or barring etc. That stuff could show up.

What do you mean Leghorns have the barring gene? And how did you conclude they're sexable at hatch?
They're not sexable. I've heard the barring thing myself but from experience it sure doesn't seem true except in very, very rare cases.

Are you saying a fibro pen is an all-black chicken?

Fibro makes black skin. Black beaks. Black shanks, claws, tongues, etc.

The feather color can be black, or they can come in other feather colors.

Heterozygous Fibro (1 copy rather than 2), can result in incomplete expression of Fibro, so they may have light claws, mulberry combs, etc.
Fibro can be diluted by other factors, including some feather colors.

Thanks, that word was new to me. Initially, I thought it was a fibromyalgia reference!
