White Broiler/ TSC Cornish Rock Hen and Egg Color

Last year, when Tractor Supply Co had chickens. I picked up a few they had on sale. Some Broilers/Cornish Rocks, and I only have 2 of them left. One hen and one rooster, the rooster is my picture. What color eggs would she lay? I was thinking white, but are Broilers different? Can they lay light brown eggs?


I have the pair, Black Australorp Hen, Black Sex Link Hen, and a New Hampshire Red. I did have a light Gold comet, but she passed away. She would lay brown with white speckled eggs. Only reason I know that is, because I stopped getting them now. And the Black hens lay Brown eggs with dark spots. The Red hen lays plain brown eggs. Only other color I get is a VERY VERY light brown egg that is almost white.

P.S. I do get spotted Black and grey eggs, but those are Cayuga duck eggs.

I think they lay light brown, but there are a bunch of different broiler-type birds out there and I'm not sure whether egg color varies much. Regardless, broilers really aren't layers and won't lay much (if ever, in some cases). They were bred to be used as meat birds, and in selecting for that purpose they sacrificed egg laying capabilities as well as longevity. I'm actually kind of surprised that yours are as old as they are (they usually end up with deformities, debilitating weight gain, and a slew of other organ issues if not slaughtered within the recommended age range).

Thank you! I am just as surprised! I think they look good for being broilers at 1 year. Besides the hen being bald in places. She also runs, which is surprising.

I will hopefully have some more in the next few weeks. My Australorp is setting on 15 eggs, her eggs, the Broiler eggs, the red hen's eggs, and the other black hen's eggs.

i have 1 male and 2 females, they lay light broen eggs, one with double yolk and weight from 94 gr to 109 gr. the other one lay one yolk and about 66 gr.
i hatced 4 chicks and want to see how will they be.
they dont grow as the parents.
