I have 4 Red sex links, 2 barred rocks, and 1 RIR. All are great layers of nice brown eggs. I can pretty tell which hen lays which egg. My 2 BR's are a lighter shade of brown than the RSL's, my RIR lays a really dark egg, and one of the RSL's lays a speckled egg

Today I go out to the pen for my daily clean up. I have an egg that is almost as white as a store bought white egg. Is it possible for brown egg layers to pop out an egg lacking pigmentation? I think its pretty cool. Just want to make sure its not a deficiency of some sort
Here are the eggs I picked up yesterday and today. Its the one on far left/middle

Likely from your Rock. Egg pigmentation varies and being the Rocks lay a lighter egg some will be close to white. Our black Rock pops out an off white egg now and then too.

I think you are right. Today, in the same nesting box(that this particular BR always lays in every day) I had a mini egg matching the color she always lays. Egg was 1/3 smaller, at least, than any of the other eggs and was the lighter shade my 2 BR's lay. I guess her body is going thru something. Hope she gets it worked out
