Yesterday I found a white egg in the nest. I haven't had a white egg layer for about 6 months and hadn't hatched any white eggs this year. It was cracked (it's a VERY cold winter here) so tonight I thought I'd make some eggs to feed the girls. When I opened it I noticed it was a nice tan/brown on the inside! I thought membranes were either white or blue.

Sounds like an oops egg. Sometimes they mess up the order of how the egg goes together. I wouldn't worry about it happening unless it starts happening on a regular biases.
