Hooray! last week my 2 welsummers started to lay. Getting an egg from them each day, very happy indeed.

BUT, one of my girls is laying pure WHITE eggs.???? Welsummer I know are supposed to lay dark terracotta eggs.

Is this because of their age - only 20-22 weeks and the colour will go the terracota colour in time.
Any one have any ideas.

These are my first chucks, and I'm spending too much time watching them, they are hilarious.

hopeful for ideas!!!

You may want to ask one of the mods to move your thread to the Behaviours and Egglaying Section - you will get more answers that way.

I certainly have never heard of a Welsumer laying a white egg. Perhaps you could post a pic of her for some of our experts to look over?

Congrats!! I have 3 chickens and only one is laying right now. One should be laying in 2 months and the other who knows, maybe she is not comfortable in her new home.

Well, congrats again and enjoy.
