Has anyone any pictures or sizes etc for nest boxes for white face and fulvous ducks.
I am getting 2 pairs of each and want to get making some nest boxes for them.
I use 2ft tall x 18 inch wide boxes or wood duck boxes.Unlike a 4inch hole for woodies or manderins I have found the treeducks like a bigger hole. So a 6-7 inch hole entrance is best. Your white faced may prefer to nest in grass clumps or similar cover more than a box. Also it is best to at least give them 2 boxes per pair. More nesting places prevents dump nesting and stimulates the ducks more I feel.
When you say 2ft high by 18 inches square is it placed in an upright position 2ft high like wood duck boxes with wire on inside and ramp up to entrance hole. But instead of a 4inch hole for woods make it 6 to 7.
Since posting i have heard also like you have said that the white face like to nest on clumps of grass reeds etc.
Would they ever use ground boxes like ruddy's would use ?
