I would post on or look through the ornamental thread on the duck board. You might get more responses there. I don't know a lot about the White Faced Tree ducks, other than they are fairly common and I recall reading that they do best in small groups, rather than pairs (if I am remembering correctly). I see them for sale pretty frequently and they are relatively inexpensive, seems like around $100 for a pair (slightly more or less).

In short, like all treeducks, they are identical in color, very vocal, either lay like crazy or nothing at all. Lots of tree ducks are poor nester and will just drop eggs where ever they are standing. The whiteface, fulvous and blackbelly are Federally protected species. They do good in pairs or larger groups. They can bully smaller species like teal, but the whiteface usually arent too bad about it, they'll just peck and move smaller birds out of their way. Cubans can be horrid little monsters though, they are big, and bullies.
They are all ground nesters. Lay about 8-15 eggs per clutch, if you get a prolific pair, they will lay numerous clutches threw the year. They are all tropical species and are one of the few waterfowl species that do require winter protection in northern climates. Here in the south they are fine, but cant tollerate much of the sub zero nothern temps, thats why you dont see many in Great Lakes area breeders collections. Most are kept in the south.(they are an African species)
They are not so much water dependate birds like other waterfowl either. They will spend over half their time on land foraging, similar to geese.
Average price is $125 per pair, over $150 is too much for them

Yep, if you live there, unless you have a heated barn for them in the winter, I'd pass,
the teal, all but hottentots will do just fine up your way.
