Can anyone tell me why my Sultan's (white) feathers are yellowing. She is approx. 10 months old. I am feeding her Nutrena Nauri:Wise and she gets her yogurt every day. I know she has also been eating some of the chicks feed. Any ideas?

It could be the feed, I know Purina yellowed my light colored birds. The sun will also turn my white Silkies yellow in the hackles.

Direct sunlight is the main reason for yellowing or "brassiness" in white feathered varieties. It can also be genetic but usually if it's genetic they come in brassy.

I bought a rooster who was very brassy in his hackles from an all-corn diet, among other problems. He hardly ever saw the sun so in his case, it was strictly dietary. After three weeks of proper nutrition, all of that was gone! It was amazing. Here are the photos of before and after-that second pic was three weeks after the first one, then here he is more recently:

Thanks everyone for the info. She does love the sun. Is it the protein level I would need to change in her diet? The food she is getting has 18% plant protein.

This is an interesting subject. I've been giving my white silkies corn for treats and they are yellowing too.

Guess I'll quit that! But I wonder what will happen when I give wild blueberry treats? Recently went through my freezer to thin out the older stuff and found pounds of blueberries and have been given them to the birds ....

Their poo is definately blue and dark! Will that affect their feather color too?
