Since joining BYC, we're learning that our hen, Blondie, isn't a Golden Laced Wyandotte like we'd originally thought. When we bought her as a chick (from a farm store), the chicks were apparently mislabeled as GLWs. As a chick, she was all yellow. Now almost 10 months old, she is white with golden/blonde highlights around her neck. She has a single comb and lays dark brown eggs. We've been told that she may be a leghorn but in looking at pictures of leghorns, she doesn't quite seem to match. We'd love to know what breed she is. Here is a recent picture (more can be found in our profile). The pictures don't show the golden highlights very well.

Thanks for the quick responses!

As we read more, we wanted to add a bit more information that may be helpful. She's about 5 lbs. (smaller than our New Hampshire Red) and she's a very regular layer - same time every morning.

She looks to be a mix to me...likely White Leghorn on one side...although she also looks like she could have some Cornish X in her with that meaty chest.

She could be an Amber Link if she was a commercial hybrid which would give you those large medium brown eggs...typical of the Red Stars, Gold Stars, and other hybrids of similar ilk.

Enjoy her. She'll be very productive for you.

Thank you for everyone's help! We've googled LOTS of pictures and breeds this evening and it appears that we may have a White Rock. The pictures we've seen look exactly like her and blogs we've seen describe her personality to a tee. :)
