I've been wanting to get some heritage Turkeys for some time.
I wasn't considering Hollands but I found out about a gal locally
that will have some poults for sale this spring and thought I'd try a few.
I asked her why she liked them and she said she preferred their smaller size,
that the dressed out nicer with the white feathers
and that they grow faster than the other heritage breeds.
Just wondering what you like about Hollands?
Thanks for any comments.

The Hollands don't grow any faster than any other heritage turkey and actually they are the 2nd largest heritage turkey. The Standard Bronze is the biggest. A holland tom should be over 30 pounds and the hens mid to upper 20's. We have all three white feathered varieties and they break down like.

The Beltsvilles are the best layers - they outlay the other 2 combined
The Midgets have the best taste and lay the biggest egg
The Hollands are the largest.

A white feathered bird does dress nicer than dark feathered one.
