Newbie to genetics and am definitely in up to my eyeballs absorbing information. One thing that caught my attention is the existence of white lacing in Cornish but not in Wyandottes. Any idea why that is? Is it not possible to have white laced Wyandottes?

Because they are called Buff Laced Red(their color is pale buff instead of deep red)

To get White Laced Red you need to have them red enhanced first, the base for Buff Laced Wyandottes are the Golden Laced, to have them " White Red Laced" you need to base them on Black Laced Red Wyandotes

You see Black Laced Red Wyandottes are the results of the "Blue Laced Red" Wyandotte program. You can't show them but they pop up. Those are the ones you need to get the proper "White Laced Reds"

Golden Laced Wyandotte + Dominant White = Buff Laced Wyandotte

Black Laced Red Wyandotte + Dominant White = White Laced Red Wyandotte

If bred for the Splash can look very white

Thank you! I have black laced red chicks coming in a month. Just need to figure out a white dominance to cross with it sounds like.

The best would be to outcross the Black Laced Red with a Buff laced hen and breed the F1s back to Black Laced Red to increase the red darkness, 50% will be Black Laced Red and 50% Will be proper White Laced Red

To make sure I got the concept.

Breeding a Black Laced Red Wyandotte with a Buff Laced Cornish/Polish gets me my F1s group. Then take the F1s and breed it to a Black Laced Red to get better coloring in F2s.

Could the F2s that are proper White Laced Reds then be bred together to get more of them?

Yes that is the plan. But don use Polish because they have so many unwanted genes you would need to get rid of. Look for Buff Laced Wyandotte instead or another dual purpose breed that has dominant white. I would rather use a sex linked production red hen than a Polish
