white leghorn info

Hello,

Tomorrow I am visiting a farm in order to buy some white leghorns I have read about the breed but they don't seem to mention how good they are at laying or there personality. If anyone has any personal experiences with this breed I would really appreciate you to share it with me.

Hello again! The info I gave you on White Stars also applies to White Leghorns since White Stars are hybrids bred from utility strains of White Leghorns. I have have been raising chickens nearly all my life and at one time or another I have had all of the breeds or strains that you have mentioned so far in your posts.

Leghorns lay large eggs, and while they can be friendly they have a tendency to be quite flighty and unapproachable. you will need to keep them in a secure pen/ run unless you want them in the trees. they are very quirky and have their own personalities but tend to get in a fluff over nothing and are easy to startle. We had them for about 8 years and never got them out of the ****** trees and so they couldn't be free ranged as they would be gone, eventually we got a new coup built that had a roof over it and shrubs on the inside so they could perch and flap but not get out. All things considered they can fly quite well as they are not a heavy breed
