How long after leghorns grown combs and go red do they start laying? I have one that's comb has changed a lot in the last week. I know it's early, they are 15 wks now..... I just heard they go big and red before. And they lost their young feathers, fully feathered in adult and seem to be full size now.

I have 4 total, there is another one going bigger and redder, but not as much, and two are still small and pink.

I also have two red rangers that are fully grown, one squats when you touch her back and they look like they can poop out and egg at any time... Just waiting, they are also 15 wks. Their combs and waddles are been red for weeks now.

I wouldn't expect eggs until 18 weeks, but if you have some that are starting to squat, you're definitely in any-day-now territory. Mine Leghorns are 22 weeks, and no eggs yet. I think it might be the heat, since we've been up over 100 for most of July.

The waiting is killing me.

I know. Me too. the one that is squatting was injured last week so I think that might slow her down a bit too. I just wander if she was squatting cause she was hurt. Still.. that first egg is going to be so awesome!
