I have ONLY used the white lights..EVER. They don't pick at one another, they sleep, eat, do all the things theywould normally do in the sunshine. i always wondered why ppl. say ONLY use a red light. Fiddle Dee Dee.
I agree with you that if you don't have a pecking issue, you don't need a red bulb. My issue with them being under a white light at night was because they were partying all night long, not that they were pecking.
ETA: Come to think of it, mine were probably too busy trying to find new ways to wake me up to peck at each other.
