White messy bottom & trailing egg sack

Apologies for the gross picture.

1-year old chicken who acts normal, eats & drinks & free ranges with 7 others. She seems very happy & alert and has acces to oyster shells and 5 acres to roam.

Two weeks ago, I notice her messy bottom, cleaned it, and it was fine for a couple of days. At the same time, I started to find eggs with a long trailing sack. The end of the sack is about 1/4" thick and like a hard plastic. What should I do for her?

The only thing I know to do for her is give her some poultry vitamins and a little extra calcium. Some hens can be more prone to laying odd eggs. She may not be absorbing/processing calcium/nutrients like she should.

I have one that occasionally lays soft shell eggs this is what I do. Poultry Nutri-Drench (1cc per 3lbs) and crush a Tums or dissolve it in a little water and give it to her. I wash up any yuck on her bum, dry her and send her on her way. She has yet to act sick/lethargic, but I suspect that day will come.

There are many ways to add extra calcium when the oyster shells don't seem to be enough. Calcium supplements purchased at the pharmacy, liquid calcium from the feed store or adding calcium rich greens/veggies. For what I call "quick uptake" calcium supplements, liquid calcium or Tums would work faster.
