Hello everyone. I'm new here. This is my third post. For those of you that have White Rocks, when do they start laying? Its my first time having them.

Mine is 29 weeks old and very slowly maturing.....her comb is just coming in. Compared to my Barred Rock that matured quickly and started laying at 23 weeks.

Also, are the White Rock eggs darker brown than the Barred Rock or about the same pale light brown?

Here are a couple of pics of Pearl. Thanks

My girl just started laying at around 22 weeks. These are her eggs.
Her first egg. IMG_20180910_183334611.jpg

The egg in the middle is hers, next to a white grocery store egg and a black sex link egg. The eggs are still kind of small because she just started laying.

It should be bigger within a few weeks. She has been laying 6 eggs a week ever since she first started.

Your girl looks like she getting close. Has she squatted for you yet?

Here's one of my WPR taken in winter. Her egg is in the middle between a NH (pullet) and White Leghorn. It's a bit lighter brown since it's the end of the season, it looks like she's going to molt soon - I've found that egg color lightens as the year goes by.

Thanks. She is beautiful. I love ROCKS in general. Her egg is large too.

I notice my BPR lays a small to medium size egg.

I will.post her first when she lays.
Thanks!
The WPR are pretty nice birds.
I do like the Rocks myself:)

If your BPR has not being laying for very long, her eggs will increase in size. When your WPR starts laying her eggs will be small, but expect them to get bigger.
Something fun to do is weigh your eggs, a postal scale works good for this. It's neat to see how they slowly "gain" weight and increase in size.

Keep us posted, look forward to seeing her first egg!

Pearl finally laid an egg at 9 months old. It's a beautiful dark brown. Much darker than my Barred Rock eggs.
