Hi.. I have had alot of chickens in my life. We have 12 red sex links and a red sex link rooster. One of my hens decided to hatch eggs last fall. A chick emerged.. All whitish yellow down.. I thought it was a cockerel. To this day i have no idea how this chick is a pullet and white... Has anyone ever experienced or seen this. This is the only breed i have on the farm

Breeding a sex link to a sex link does not breed true.
Red sex links are a cross between a Rhode Island Red rooster and a Rhode Island White hen. The white is dominant.
When a red sex link rooster with one copy of Mahogany and one copy of dominant white breeds with a hen with one copy of Mahogony there is a 50% chance that a resulting chick can be white but there is no sex linkage.
So what that pullet is is a Rhode Island White.
