one of my beautiful barred rocks is ill. please help
Yobbo (for that is her name), is 5 months old and has been laying for about a month. for the last 3 days she has been listless and not eating. She is doing watery white poos though earlier this morning I saw her pass a very long dark poo which turned out to be some long pieces of virtually undigested grass.
I separated her from the others immediately and she has access to a small patch of grass and a section of the coop. She can see the others which I feel is important. She has been free ranging in our large garden so could have picked up anything. According to the store where I bought her she was given all her shots or whatever they give chicks these days. I have 3 other chickens from the same place and they all seem very healthy and happy. I have had her for about 3 months.
I have offered her yoghurt, pellets, pear etc but she isnt interested. any ideas. I dont want to go to a vet as last time i did this they charged me $80, said the bantam would be fine and she died 4 hours later (she had an infection in her crop)
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
