white showgirl - offspring colors have me stumped

So far my white showgirl roo has thrown me nothing but blue/black chicks when crossed with my blue cochins and blue silkies.
When crossed with my millies the chicks come out blue with a brown overlay (think wild rabbit fluff)

But out of one of my last hatches there are two chicks that actually look like they are going to be white (so far)

How could this have happened? I don't have any other white birds. I do have a splash cochin - perhaps that's the mama and they eventually will be splash.


I just thought with white silkies you had to have two whites to get white birds.

Just when I think I have a handle on this stuff.

You need 2 carriers of recessive white.

So even though none of my other chickens are white - one of the hens is carrying a reccessive white gene.

Hmm it's got me wondering. I'm sure it's none of the mille fleur d'uccles so it must be the cochins.
