OK,
This one of the silkie we hatched last year. He is still a cockerel (10 months old ) and lacks in good foot feathering but that might be do to free ranging all winter...
I believe that he could use improvement on crest, beard and tail but might just be me.. So what do you all think..
Please excuse the holding pen I used to take the picture

Thanks,
Chris

I would prefer heavier foot feathering, smaller and darker comb, smaller wattles, larger crest, larger beard and more "fluff" in the tail if you were looking to breed.

For just a pet...He looks PERFECT!

For a pet, he is just fine. For breeding or exhibition, he is lacking in the areas you mention, plus is also lacking in typiness. Wattles should be very small for a bearded silkie; comb type is modified rose rather than true walnut, and much too bumpy.

Definitely pet quality. Do you know which hen and roo he is from? I wouldn't use them either
Are you trying to raise show birds or just pets, or maybe just as nice a bird as you can with what you all ready have?

Thank All,
He is basically a "project" bird that the wife and I have been playing with.
Last fall he had better feathering of feet, I believe that the reason his beard is not fuller is he is out of a bearded rooster and a non-bearded hen..
