White spot on face of chicken

I have two chickens (white leghorn hen and a speckled sussex hen), in a pen of 5, that have a white dime-sized spot on their faces. It is symmetrical in size and placement on both sides of the face. It is located on the lower edge of the face where a cheek may be.

It is white ear lobes...
They are very normal, and I believe they are a requirement to show the White Leghorn.. (Not sure about S.S. but I would guess so.)


Oh yeah, and the hen in the picture isnt a White Leghorn or a Speckled Sussex. Is it a picture of your hen?

I couldn't remember the name of the speckled one but it lays brown eggs. The white one was advertised as a white leghorn when i bought it. So these chickens are suppose to have white ears? Okay then not to be alarmed about it. Thanks G

Thats their earlobes!

They start turning white when the birds start to lay.
