I have young pullet (one of 8, only three havent started laying yet), she was munching on mellon today and did a chicken fart...yes, that happens!. As she ran away like a bandit i noticed something white dangling out of her fluffy rear end. Her name is april but i gotta admit that I have been calling her fluff-butt(with love).

When I caught her and took her into the light (it was twighlight outside) I inverted her and pulled this out of her rear end where half of it had sucked back in. It was 6 inches long before i inverted her and had a consistance somewhere between jello and one of those annoying rubber slap-sticky hands you got out of a vending machine as a kid.....or jello and a rubber band?

Help is appreciated.

I'd say it's most likely from her laying parts getting themselves in order. It doesn't look like a worm based on the picture - others may have other ideas about that - it looks more like the membrane that holds the egg together just came out without the rest of the production line kicking in. Do watch her carefully to see if there are any repeats, or if the feathers around the vent get gooey.

Will do. Thank you for the response.

I agree, it doesn’t seem to be anything serious at the moment!

No repeats, thanks for the help.
